Waterproofness testing reduces the risk of product failure in the field by simulating conditions where a product may be subjected to contact with water.
The waterproofness tests offered at TÜV SÜD cover a wide spectrum of requirements including the popular drip, driving rain, and immersion tests.
One of the more unusual Waterproofness tests offered by TÜV SÜD is the RTCA/DO-160 continuous stream proof test. This test replicates the +50°C, high pressure, spray systems used by ground crew to wash away snow and ice from aircraft.
Despite the obvious failures of functional tests the only other failure mode would be water ingress. Although similar, waterproofness is not to be confused with Ingress Protection and the IP code.
We can provide manufacturers with the following testing services:
Driving Rain (European and world-wide deployment)
Continuous Stream Proof
We provide testing for waterproofness to many specifications including the following common standards:
Any test not on our UKAS scope which is within our capability can be added quickly through our flexible schedule, which is a rare privilege granted to us by our accrediting authority.
