TÜV SÜD Japan conducted a Functional Safety Symposium on the 3rd of July 2014 in Tokyo, Japan. The symposium provided a platform for experts and specialists from the automotive, rail, factory automation and medical device industries to discuss the latest trends and developments in functional safety.
The event was attended by 220 customers from the different industries. Dr. Axel Stepken, CEO of TÜV SÜD Board of Management, opened the event with a global overview of the development of functional safety. Mr. Takehiko Kawasaki from the Certification Department of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry also delivered a keynote lecture on international standardization of functional safety from the point of view of a governing body.
The knowledge session for Rail consisted of a presentation from Nippon Signal on their implementation of the RAMS Process as well as a second presentation on “Functional safety and safety technology of railway signal” by a professor from Nagaoka University of Technology. The symposium raised interests on the topic and enabled the exchange of best practices across different industries.
