Technical Regulation on Energy Efficiency of Electric Ovens, RTE INEN 122, Resolution No. 14287, 2014 has been put in force starting Feb 04, 2015. It establishes the requirements needed to classify electric ovens according to their energy consumption, and also institutes provisions on the labeling and other additional information that are to accompany electric ovens or other similar products. This Technical Regulation focuses on preventing potential hazards to both human lives and the environment, along with practices that are likely to mislead consumers.
Both domestically manufactured or imported mains-powered electric ovens that are marketed in Ecuador must comply with this Technical Regulation. Portable ovens, microwave ovens, combination microwave ovens, and ovens powered by other forms of energy are exempt however.
