Taiwan: Secondary Li-ion battery, power supply and battery charger become mandatory under BSMI RPC scheme

From 1 May 2014, secondary Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery cell/pack, secondary Li-ion power supply and battery chargers will require certification under the BSMI RPC scheme in Taiwan.
After the effective date, products have to be certified by BSMI and cleared by the customs before they are allowed for sale.
The RPC registration can be applied in BSMI with immediate effect. It includes type testing in a BSMI accredited test laboratory and declaring conformity by BSMI registration. The certificate validity is remains at 3 years.
