The TÜV SÜD UK Group is delighted to announce that Karen Deacon-Smith has been appointed to the role of Human Resources Manager (UK). Karen will work closely with the UK Senior Management Team and lead the HR Team, focussing on our five strategic HR pillars: Talent Engagement, Talent Development, Talent Acquisition, Culture and HR Excellence.
This change reflects the move towards One TÜV SÜD and having unified UK HR team working as a co-ordinated team will support this objective. Karen has a clear vision for what is needed going forward and the ability to work closely with corporate HR.
Karen takes on this role from 1 May 2019 and will report directly to Brian Austin, CEO UK & Ireland, with functional responsibility to Gabriele Sommer, Head of Global Human Resources.
Karen is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development). Her HR career started in a recruitment role some 30+ years ago and she completed her professional HR qualifications in 1989. She was previously responsible for HR and Business Services for the Product Service Division in the UK.
Karen will relinquish her current responsibilities for PS Business Services: Mary Grigsby, Director (PS Operations) will take responsibility for Site & Facilities and plans to recruit a new Site & Facilities Manager; Mike Hooper, Health & Safety Manager will now report to Mark Jenkins, UK Business Assurance Manager.
