Sacred Heart school consists of a 4 storey teaching block and a separate sports block to provide a 7,000m2 new education facility for the London Borough of Southwark.
The Energy Strategy provides 20% of the buildings energy consumption by renewable energy. Biomass boilers were provided which contributes to the schools BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. The design was dynamically modelled in detail to predict energy consumption and CO2 levels. A mixed mode ventilation strategy was adopted operating in conjunction with exposed mass and a night-time cooling strategy.
