Allan McGill, Managing Director - TÜV SÜD Real Estate
"I joined Wallace Whittle, as it was then, in 1996 as an Electrical Graduate engineer. Following mentoring and external coaching provided by the business I was promoted to Associate in 2001, progressing to Director in 2002 and then Board Director in 2004. I’m now Managing Director of TÜV SÜD Real Estate in the UK and sit on the TÜV SÜD UK board. I have always felt supported and valued by the business throughout my career, which is part of the reason why I’m so committed to investing in developing our staff at all levels. We have recently invested in a development academy, which has bespoke programmes for all our staff, from graduates to directors. If we want to stay in the vanguard of the building services industry, we need to be continually investing in our people and systems."
Iain Nicholson, Senior Electrical Engineer
"In 2005 I joined TÜV SÜD as a CAD Technician and was given the opportunity to train as an electrical engineer. Subsequently I was sent to College and gained an HNC in Electrical Engineering. This led to progression to University and I gained a 1st Class Honours Degree and an MSc in Building Services Engineering. Throughout this process I have had the full backing of TÜV SÜD. I am now a Senior Engineer with the company and have worked on some very prestigious projects such as the Scottish Crime Campus, Project Fortis and the Scottish Power HQ in Glasgow. TÜV SÜD are committed to my continuous progression and I am currently involved in the Outlook Development programme to help develop me as a person, an engineer and a leader. TÜV SÜD have supporting me throughout this journey."
Grant Dalgleish, Director
"After leaving school at the age of seventeen I attended Glasgow Caledonian University on a day release basis graduating in 2005 with a BSc Building Services Engineering degree whilst working fulltime for another design consultancy. I joined TÜV SÜD in 2006 as an electrical engineer. In 2007, I transferred to our London Office where I worked on large scale residential developments at Chelsea Bridge Wharf Phase 5, London 2012 Olympic Athletes Village and One the Elephant, a 37-storey tower in Elephant and Castle. During my time in London I gained a lot of experience and took on a lot of responsibility. Whilst there I progressed to senior engineer, returning to Scotland in 2013 as an Associate. The large-scale project experience gained in London led to my current involvement in the Edinburgh St James project, a retail led mixed use development in the centre of Edinburgh, which is the largest urban regeneration project of its kind in Scotland. I am part of the Next Generation leadership training provided by TUV SUD and I have previously completed two Advanced Leadership Programme Modules in Munich, Germany."
