This ‘super hospital’ is amongst Europe’s largest and most advanced medical campuses, setting a new benchmark in healthcare design and delivery.
TÜV SÜD Real Estate provided full mechanical and electrical design services for the new South Glasgow Hospital campus for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. It is the biggest single NHS hospital building project ever undertaken in Scotland and one of the largest hospitals ever commissioned in the UK.
The new 170,000m2 campus has been built on the site of the existing Southern General Hospital in Govan and has centralised acute services previously provided by three different hospitals.
It comprises a 12-storey, 1,109-bed adult hospital with single-room accommodation, a four-storey 256-bed children’s hospital (replacing the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill) and a 20,000m2 pathology unit. The new hospitals includes state of the art Emergency, Acute Receiving, Critical Care, Theatres and Diagnostic Services.
