The new school facility will accommodate 1100 students in an effort by Perth & Kinross Council to accommodate Perth’s growing population in the new Bertha Park residential development, the school was built by Robertson Construction Tayside via Hub East Central
Costing £32 million, the project is uncommon in the current Scottish schools programme as it isn’t a replacement for an existing school, it is an entirely new building to serve the growing population of Perth, and having a blank canvas with no previous school to replicate in any way, has allowed the design team to produce a highly distinctive school.
The brief was to deliver a brand-new facility to meet the needs of the whole of Bertha Park and landward community. It will accommodate 1100 students, including 35 pupils with additional support needs (ASN). The facilities will include a sports hall, gym, full size grass and synthetic football pitches, and an attached multi-use games area (MUGA).
TÜV SÜD performed the roles of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health engineers as well as Sustainability Consultants. The school was delivered utilising BIM Level 2 with fully integrated design and construction 3D models.
