We provided a full consultancy services in accordance with the removal of 4 x existing passenger lifts and installation of new, larger lifts within the existing lift shafts. All works were carried out by Rubax Lifts.
Key Design Features: The new 13-person lifts were considerably larger than the original 8-person capacity, which would assist the residents in the removal or delivery of furniture items, which they could not fit into the original lifts.
The building is a former dockside brick-built bonded warehouse with ornate brick-vaulted ceilings. The old lifts were Hydraulic drives and the pump rooms and controllers were in the basement areas of the building. This basement area is damp, dark and hazardous. There is only one narrow passageway into the area and no other route out in the event of a fire. In Specifying the lifts, TÜV SÜD Dunbar Boardman requested only Traction, ‘MRL’ designs, so that the Basement pump rooms became redundant and future access into the hazardous Basement areas would not be necessary.
