The Association of University Engineers (AUE) Conference is being hosted by Solent University and cover a larger number of tangible issues that affect us all, and therefore our selective sessions will focus on ˜Managing a Compliant Estate". The content of the conference programme covers key insights into providing cost effective operations and maintenance services, managing the risks of varied and complex estates, whilst maintaining compliance across many aspects of estate management.
Managing a compliant estate requires decisions on the refurbishment of existing buildings, the delivery of new buildings, and evidence based risk assessment on backlog maintenance to channel investment where it is needed on replacement of mechanical and electrical services, plant and equipment. Managing a compliant estate will provide a safe, comfortable and efficient learning environment for students requiring the inclusion of the whole supply chain, specialist contractors and consultants to support university engineers in discharging their day to day duties and responsibilities.
Across both our building services and vertical transportation consultancies we have a wealth of experience in the Higher Education sector. We believe that to get the most out of the Universities capital investment plan there needs to be a collaborative and engaging approach, this actively encourages early involvement with key stakeholders to understand strategic aspirations of the University estate. We understand the lift replacement process and project manage the replacement of lifts in existing buildings ensuring minimum disruption to the learning process within the Universities whilst the work is being undertaken.

Phil joined Dunbar and Boardman in 2003 (prior to acquisition by TÜV SÜD) opening the Newcastle Office and becoming a Regional Director in 2011. Phil has been a Vertical Transportation Consultant for over 35 years and has experience across a broad range of Vertical Transportation projects with specific experience focus on lift replacements in existing buildings such as Social Housing, Education, Healthcare and Transportation systems.
