Energy Performance Certificates
The UK EPC is a regional asset rating system that rates the energy efficiency of a building on a scale of A-G, where an A rating is the most efficient. The EPC is intended to inform potential buyers or tenants, to the potential energy consumption and carbon emissions of the building.
Domestic and Non-Domestic EPC’s are required on construction of a new building or when an existing building is sold or let. EPC’s are required before a property is marketed.
The Domestic market also requires Predicted Energy Assessments (PEAs) during design stage which we can provide.
TÜV SÜD Wallace Whittle are CIBSE/STROMA accredited Low Carbon Energy Assessors and therefore qualified to produce and lodge EPC’s for all domestic and non-domestic building types throughout the UK.
Display Energy Certificate
As part of the same legislation as EPC’s, Display Energy Certificates (DEC’s) were introduced for public properties to highlight and monitor energy consumption once the building is occupied.
The DEC shows the energy performance of a building based on actual energy consumption. It is valid for one year and must be updated annually. Like the EPC, the DEC is also shown on a graph from A-G.
TÜV SÜD Wallace Whittle are fully qualified to carry out DEC’s in England and Wales.
