Wallace Whittle were engaged as the M&E consultants for the provision of a new multi-storey car park and bus-station associated with the Buchanan Galleries extension in Glasgow City Centre.
The new car park, to be built directly above the new SPT bus station provides approx. 1500 car parking spaces over 4 levels, with bridge link to shopping centre. Designs took into consideration the “Secured by Design” and “Park Mark, Safer Parking” schemes. With regards to this, CCTV was designed with liaison with Strathclyde Police and lighting levels were double the minimum requirements of CIBSE lighting guides.
A parking assistance guidance LED lighting system and vehicle management technologies are also incorporated to aid in providing a safe and welcoming environment for customers. The car park is designed to meet Building Regulations requirements for natural ventilation with local heating and ventilation in welcoming hall.
The car parking/bus station forms part of a large scheme which will incorporate various retail and commercial developments in the future.
