The hazard-based safety Standard EN 62368-1 has now been published in the Official Journal of the European Union and will replace the current EN 60950-1 and EN 60065 standards. In addition the IEC version is recognised in the CB scheme and the UL/CSA version recognised for North America, as such you should now considering transitioning to the new Standard. The requirements are broadly similar between the new and old Standards but 62368-1 adopts an entirely new approach with its hazard based perspective. In theory this will give product designers greater flexibility, but you need to make sure you are prepared to ensure on-going compliance, business continuity and the unhindered ability to sell your products into the market. TÜV SÜD can help you comply with this Standard with our simple and effective compliance process.
