The purpose of a lessons learned review is to capture what went well and what could have been improved on a project.
Recording and sharing lessons learned information allows future projects to be designed with previous learning in mind and should avoid the repetition of previous mistakes. Ultimately this can make the difference between project success and failure.
Undertaking a lessons learned exercise at intervals during a project and at completion or deferral enables potential problems to be identified before valuable expertise and knowledge is lost from the team.
Lessons learned reviews are particularly pertinent to nuclear industry projects which are usually complex, often unique and heavily constrained.
TÜV SÜD Nuclear Technologies facilitate lessons learned workshops in a systematic, structured and logical manner. Prompts are structured around key discussion points such as commercial, cost control sub-contractors, quality assurance, delivery and technical approach.
