On 25th February, Innovate UK opened the fourth round of the popular Analysis for Innovators (A4I) programme with a closing date of 20 March. The organisation is also running a series of roadshows at locations all around the UK, to promote and explain the scheme.
The programme will provide support for UK businesses worth up to £4m. It will offer cutting edge R&D expertise and facilities to UK companies that have an analysis or measurement problem they need to solve. NEL is one of the organisations in the UK’s National Measurement System, that support the programme, the others being NPL, NML and the STFC.
“The focus for the scheme is on solving issues affecting product costs, reliability and lifetime or production problems,” says Business Development Manager, Lynn Hunter. “It is an excellent opportunity for UK businesses to access expertise, support and advice from the leading measurement organisations in the UK.”
NEL participated in both Glasgow and London roadshows.
Any size of business, with any type of measurement or analysis problem, is eligible to apply to the A4I programme. As it addresses real problems in existing processes within businesses, it should be of interest to companies that traditionally would not consider applying for R&D funding.
The application process for the A4I initiative is straightforward, with companies asked to send in a short video describing the problem they need to solve. Any organisation that is short-listed for the programme then goes through to a further selection stage.
NEL has already supported a number of projects through this programme, including a ground-breaking device designed to help doctors assess the health of many of the body’s major organs and a clamp-on monitoring device from company that provides automated remote monitoring solutions.
