Digitisation was the word of the day at the latest Oil and Gas Focus Group (OGFG) meeting May 2019 in Norwich, with delegates exploring what it means for the Oil and Gas industry.
There were three National Engineering Laboratory (NEL) presentations at the event, including a session from NEL Digital Services Team Lead, Gordon Lindsay, on digitisation for flow measurement and how digital data can be used for diagnostics and Condition Based Monitoring (CBM).
“The OGFG provides an excellent opportunity for the oil and gas industry to learn about leading-edge research and to explore the key challenges in the industry” commented Digital Services Team Leader, Gordon Lindsay. “Digitisation continues to be a key driver for many organisations, particularly for automation and data processing.”
These NEL presentations were complemented by a varied and informative range of talks from industry, with the day’s agenda providing an overview of current trends and challenges in the world of flow measurement.
“The technical presentations delivered at the OGFG meetings always stimulate a good level of discussion amongst the delegates and this year’s meeting at Norwich was no different” commented NEL Project Engineer and meeting Chair, Chris Mills. “The high-quality presentations and discussion amongst the audience ensures that the key developments and research reach a wide audience.”
The Oil and Gas Focus Group is supported by the UK Government's National Measurement System (NMS) and is managed by NEL on its behalf. The next OGFG meeting is scheduled to take place in Aberdeen on the 28th of August. Click here for more details.
