The latest Lunch & Learn in-house industry training event took place in October in Bristol. It was delivered to a team from Dashboard, a cleantech company that helps industry harness the transformational power of data analysis. Dashboard is currently introducing its LIMPET technology, which offers a unique approach to the continuous monitoring of pipeline infrastructure.
“Dashboard wanted to tap into TUV SUD NEL’s expertise on ultrasonic metering,” says CFD Team Manager Marc Laing, who ran the session. “I gave training presentations that highlighted how best to use ultrasonic meters to get the most accurate results. I also covered the strengths and weaknesses of the technology.”
Marc delivered his training to a team of six technicians all involved in Dashboard’s product development.
“It was great to meet the Dashboard team,” says Marc. “The kind of innovative, non-intrusive metering they are developing is a hot topic at the moment. For example, the company’s Limpet technology can be used to detect leaks and so reduce environmental pollution, save waste and improve profitability. We are very interested in their work and hope that the Lunch & Learn will lead to more collaborations with the company.”
The Lunch & Learn programme provides focused flow measurement training to individual businesses. It is funded by the UK’s National Measurement System (NMS). For each session, TUV SUD NEL experts go to a specific company and deliver presentations on flow measurement issues that are of interest to that company’s workforce. They provide information and advice tailored to each company’s requirements. Overall, the programme is designed to drive the dissemination of flow metrology information to industry.
