The Lunch & Learn programme, which provides focused flow measurement training to individual businesses, is set to expand strongly during the second half of 2018.
“We’ve delivered a number of successful events so far this year,” says Marketing Communications Executive Marietta Hughes. “We now have ambitious plans for the rest of the year. More events are planned for the next few months with large-scale oil and gas operators, and we are hoping to take the events to Ireland for the first time.”
According to Marietta, Lunch & Learn sessions are scheduled to the end of the year with events already confirmed in Norway and Aberdeen.
“Our sessions to also tie-in with the North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop which is taking place in Aberdeen for this first time this October,” she says.
Lunch & Learns are funded by the UK’s National Measurement System (NMS). They are designed to drive the dissemination of flow metrology information to industry. For each session, TUV SUD NEL experts visit a company and deliver presentations on flow measurement issues that are directly relevant to that company’s operations. They provide information and advice tailored to each company’s requirements.
The most recent Lunch & Learn took place in April in Yorkshire. It was delivered to a team of ten technicians and managers from an industrial valve manufacturer. At the meeting, CFD Team Manager Marc Laing and Project Engineer Sandy Black gave presentations that covered capabilities and the lab’s digital simulation capabilities. They also focused on erosion issues.
“Erosion caused by sand was highlighted as a significant potential challenge for the company’s components,” says Sandy. “They wanted to understand more about our services and how we could help. Feedback from delegates was positive and these events give us a great opportunity to really address issues that are relevant to the companies we are visiting.”
