PPDS for Windows is an extensive thermodynamic calculation engine with associated databases, an embeddable Excel macrosheet and a programmable interface for developing custom applications.
PPDS for Windows may be deployed as a stand alone application on an individual PC workstation or as a full client / server implementation across a company's network. The programmable interface allows for custom applications to be built running locally or remotely over a network or the internet.
The package consists of the PPDS ThermoServer which performs the calculations and the PPDS Client for specifying the calculation options and reviewing results. The package also includes our Excel Interface which provides Excel functions which can be used directly on your spreadsheets.

The PPDS Client is the way that most users will interface with the PPDS ThermoServer.
It provides a simple way for users to interact with the PPDS ThermoServer to perform a variety of calculations including 1, 2 and 3 phase flashes for solid, liquid and vapour phases. Results are displayed in the Text Output window while requested graphs are displayed in their own dedicated window.
Its multi-window design allows several streams to be active at the same time allowing multiple scenarios to be examined.
Calculation results are written to the Text Output window. The contents of the Text Output window can then be printed, saved or copied into other applications. As the Text Output windows uses a grid system for holding its content, when pasting content from The Text Output window into grid destinations such as tables or spread sheets, the cell layout is preserved. This allows tables of results to be generated from within the PPDS Client and pasted directly into a spreadsheet for further analysis and processing.
The PPDS ThermoServer is the main calculation engine for providing numerical data on the thermophysical properties (thermodynamic and transport) of fluids and their mixtures over a wide range of temperatures and pressures. The calculation results are underpinned with a quality assured data base of ~1500 process chemicals which is supplied as part of the software.
The PPDS ThermoServer can be viewed as the combination of the software calculation engine acting on a set of underlying data-banks that contain parameterised information on the properties of pure chemicals and selected sets of binary interaction parameters for standard Phase Equilibria Models.
The PPDS ThermoServer is designed to act as a physical property calculation engine in a client-server networked environment. This has led to a flexible programming interface which has been used to interface the PPDS ThermoServer to market- leading applications in areas such as process simulation, batch processing, thermal integration, heat transfer and fluid flow.
The PPDS ThermoServer also support web-based applications for both Internet and Intranet use, which provides specific opportunities for leveraging corporate information in a cost-effective manner.
The current PPDS API provides the flexibility to provide validated physical property data ranging from a simple point calculation to a complete interface.
For added flexibility in developing user application templates, a PPDS add-in function library is provided for Microsoft Excel.
The PPDS add-in for Microsoft EXCEL allows the functionality of the PPDS ThermoServer to be accessed directly from a user�s spreadsheet. The add-in plugs directly and easily into EXCEL and comes with embedded on-line help and examples. Using the add-in is thus particularly simple and does not require any coding expertise over and above using function calls within a spreadsheet. Because the calculations are performed through an Excel Add-In, the results are "on the sheet" allowing them to be acted upon by any other Excel tools.
Using the EXCEL add-in provides users with a powerful mechanism to tailor their own calculations to use PPDS functions directly.
