EMPIR coordinates research projects to address key industry challenges and focuses on innovation and accelerating the uptake of research outputs.
TUV SUD NEL is involved in a number of current EMPIR research projects, both as an overall project lead and an individual work-package lead. These include:
Multiphase Flow Reference Metrology (Multiflowmet II 16ENG07)
Multiphase flow measurement is a fundamental enabling metrology in subsea oil and gas production. This research aims to develop reference measurement capabilities for this type of flow that are accurate, repeatable and comparable across different European facilities.
Metrology for Hydrogen Vehicles (MetroHyVe 16ENG01)
This is the first large scale research project to tackle the measurement challenges facing the development of Europe’s hydrogen fuel industry.
Metrological support for LNG and LBG as transport fuel (LNG III 16ENG09)
This is a major international research project to support the large-scale roll-out of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied biogas (LBG) as transport fuels.
